Our Urban Forest & City Trees
Our Region’s Urban Forest
Idaho’s Treasure Valley is home to over 2.4 million trees (collectively our region’s urban forest). Our urban forest provides many benefits to our communities and the environment, a collective $9.4 million annual benefit through improved air quality, decreased stormwater runoff and carbon storage.
In order to maintain this valuable resource, Idaho's Green Industry employs over 10,000 seasonal and full-time people and generates over $650 million in sales alone.
The Treasure Valley Canopy Network and our partners help care for our region’s urban forest in many ways:
Raise awareness about the benefits
Facilitate quality education of our tree care and green industries
Facilitate collaboration that advances better planning, planting, care and removal of our region’s trees
Generate funding opportunities and initiatives that grow a thriving urban forest
Opportunities
As a member of the Urban Wood Network, city forestry programs, neighborhood partners and tree care companies recognize many benefits and opportunities:
Enhanced data and systems to support more efficient tree removal practices that feed directly into urban timber supply chains and support local businesses (including tree care companies, urban timber suppliers, millers and makers).
A sustainability platform and brand recognition for your business, city and neighborhood.
