Canopy Continuum

Our partnership with Portland State University informs local climate action

Canopy Continuum

In 2017, the Treasure Valley Canopy Network partnered with Portland State University to explore the link between environmental and human health in communities throughout the Treasure Valley through the Canopy Continuum Project. The Treasure Valley was one of 5 US Cities (alongside Albuquerque, Portland, Sacramento and Tacoma) that partnered with Portland State University, USDA Forest Service and Oregon Health Sciences University to evaluate links between our region’s urban forest and: air quality, urban heat and human and environmental health.

Air Quality Monitoring

In Winter 2018, we established PurpleAir air quality monitoring stations throughout the valley. Several of these stations remain active today, capturing real-time ground level air quality data.
