Building A Healthy Community

In addition to the environmental benefits of a healthy urban tree canopy (clean air, clean water and energy conservation), there are a myriad of social benefits that a community realizes as well, including:

• safe streets

• increased residential property values

• increased income to businesses

All of these benefits correlate to a healthier community where the people are active and healthy and the local economy is thriving.  

In the Treasure Valley, this was identified in an October 2013 Downtown Boise Walkability Analysis commissioned by Capital City Development Corporation (CCDC) and published by Jeff Speck.

The Treasure Valley Canopy Network is engaged with many local efforts -- enhancing our urban forest canopy, while maximizing benefits for our cities and towns.
